One of every five persons suffer from the harmless, but very unpleasant disease: foetor ex ore - or bad breath.

The bad taste is unpleasant - but the awareness of the bad smell bothering other people, does in worst cases result in social isolation.

The twenty percent of the population suffer permanently from bad breath. Few people talk about their problem, but simply isolate themselves. In 85 % of the cases you can cure yourself by following a few simple advices.

Bad breath has several causes.

In 85 % of the cases, the bad smell from the mouth is a result of wrong or insufficient dental hygiene. In other cases, the smell is caused by illness in the mouth, infections of the gums or as a effect of what you eat and drink.

If you want to get rid of the bad smell

Try to improve your dental hygiene by:

  • brushing your teeth at least twice a day and floss regularly.
  • Scrape off or brush your tounge - as far back as possible.

What else can help?

When you are experiencing bad breath, you can try to cover up the bad smell by chewing gum or eating fresh mints of some kind. These products don't take away the cause of the smell, but maybe they can decrease the problem. Please make sure you choose sugarfree products only, in order to avoid further problems like caries.

If the above doesn't help, you should see your doctor to receive professional help.
