Maintenance

Like the natural teeth, the artificial teeth need daily maintenance if we want to keep them for a long time. The durability of artificial teeth is dependant on how they are used, but in general, bridges can be expected to last for 10-15 years. Most trouble with bridges arises from caries in the anchor teeth. Therefore, it is important to brush twice a day and use dental floss on a regular basis. You can buy a special type of floss for bridges.

Alternative treatment

An alternative to bridges is dental crowns, which are individual artificial teeth. A crown can either be attached to an existing damaged tooth or to an implant. It is the best solution if only one tooth needs replacement and if the adjacent teeth are strong and healthy.
